The Birth of our Community site!
HERES TO 2009 I have been a keen metal detectorist on and off for almost 30 years. I remember back to the days of my first metal detector bought in the late seventies, from Joan Allen. It was a very basic machine of the bfo (beat frequency oscillator) type..the model i believe was called the "Magpie".
I would rush home from school every evening pick up the magpie and head to the beach..Adding daily to the ever increasing collection of modern British coinage and finger rings. I Was hooked and continued pacing up and down the beaches and local fields for many years and enjoyed every minute of it.
Work became 7 days a week and my lovely little hobby was pushed aside...Until recently. A change in career gave me back some of my precious detecting time. So a few months ago I invested in another metal detector and have managed to secure search rights to 200 acres of farmland which should keep me busy for some time yet!
As for this website, i already own a few websites, and have even built some myself... So after relentlessley searching google for somewhere i could get to talk to other detectorists, hear their stories and see new finds etc. It became apparent that although there are a lot of forum style sites and club websites .There dosent appear to be any (tell me if im wrong) social networking sites (like facebook and myspace),exclusively for detector users. So here it is a place for metal detectorists the world over to network, share knowledge, blog, live chat etc, and Furthermore its completely free! Please help spread the word and make this site an important bookmark on the worlds detectorists computers! Its the members of this website that add all the content. We invite you to register today, compile a profile, add pictures etc And tell us all about your detecting world!
